Week of March 20, 2011

  1. Read John 3:1-21.
  2. What caused you to first consider the claims of Jesus?
  3. What can we learn about Nicodemus in v. 1-2? Why do you think he came to Jesus at night?
  4. What two ideas about birth are Jesus and Nicodemus thinking of? How does Jesus further explain what He means in v. 5-7? What point is Jesus making by comparing spiritual birth to the wind?
  5. What does Jesus claim about Himself in v. 13-15? What was the role of the snake in the desert? How is Jesus serving in a similar role?
  6. From verses 16-18, what stands out to you about God and what He wants to do? What response is required of us?
  7. How does Jesus' use of the words "born again" similar and different from the way it is used today? What do you think it means?
  8. How would compare your own search for God to those of Nicodemus: More intellectual? More straight-forward? Different but just as real? Not sure?
  9. Where are you right now in your understanding of spiritual life: Still in the dark? Closer, but not completely sure? Getting it together?
  10. Pray for one another....
